Hanging with My Cuz

We went to visit Isabel this weekend before Grandma Linda went off to see Great Grandma Jenkins. I would love to say that Grady is trying to give Isabel a kiss but reality is that he is trying to eat her face. Like any good 7 month old everything musst go in his mouth. Luck she didn't seem to mind.

Yes I called ahead and asked for Isabel to wear her matching outfit. Yes I know that it is ridiculous and Grady and Isabel will hate me for it when they are 13 but it is still cute and I don't regret it:D

Circus Bound!

Now here is evidence so we aren't suprised when Isabel and Grady run off to join the circus as the the Great Flying Cousins!

They both LOVE this and you can just hear Grady giggling. It will be a riot once Isabel starts laughing. These two will certainly help each other get into trouble.

It's a bird...it's a plane...nope it's a flying baby or maybe a floating one?

Disclaimer: No Grady's or Isabel's were hurt or in danger during the making of this blog post. All proper safety percautions were taken certain forgiving camera angles may have been used to increase the effect:D

Squash!

Why do they call it squash? Because that is exactly what is the most fun to do with it!

Yum Yum Yum!
What does Mardi think?

"Thanks for being so messy Grady, I sure do like to have a taste too!"

Would the real Grady Brooks please stand up...

video

It seems that once Grady figured out how to pull himself up he also decided that he can now crawl forwards at a good pace. So he is a boy on the move, no more leaving to room for 10 seconds because he will get into everything. He keeps me very busy during the day now and the dogs just aren't sure what to do when Grady comes crawling towards them. Typically Rebar just sits and lets Grady do as he pleases but Mardi can't decide if he wants to play or if she should run away.

Cat in the hat?

What happens when you are wriggling in your car seat while waiting for mom to get ready? Your bestest Calgary Flames toque ends up on the tippytop of your had and backwards!

Bedtime Moon

The other night I went into Grady's room and check on him. He moves around his crib a lot before he falls asleep and so we often wait before putting on a blanket. This is what greeted me when I walked in the door...

wait for it...

wait for it...

It was a full moon that night! :D
This creature has rarely been seen in the past but has taken up residence in our home with the coming spring. I like to call it "Crib Wedgie"

Most often comfortable after a hard night of crying over teething pain and general not wanting to go to bed the crib wedgie comes out for a late night visit.

One must be careful when dealing with the endangered crib wedgie as it is easy to rouse and quick to yell at you.

It is best to make sure crib wedgie has relaxed into a full state of sleep before proceeding.
Then and only then it is safe to complete the two hand lift up and forward. Don't try to kiss the crib wedgie goodbye after the lift as it is certain to wake it. it is best to just place the blanket over top and hope by morning crib wedgie has disappeared:D

Try and tell me this boy doesn't have red hair!

The proof is in the photos. Try and tell me that Grady doesn't have red in his hair! If that isn't red I must be color blind:D The more hair he gets the more I think it is gunna be some variant of red.

How to take away some teething pain

Squeeze frozen mango into a mesh feeder, and add one Grumpy Grady with teething pain. RESULT?

Grateful Grady making munching and sucking sounds and no crying!

Poor Grady we hope those teeth come in soon! At least tonight you were able to go to bed without too much of a fuss, guess the mango was a good remedy:D

And poor Daddy who was left at home alone with this fussy Grady so that Mama could enjoy some time out of the house as well as yummy boneless ribs and cider. Of course to add insult to injury after crying for pretty much the whole time I was gone when I arrived home and picked Grady up he immediately stopped crying and gave Dad a look like "See I just want Mama! Geez". So I guess he is going through a bit of a Mama's boy stage (hopefully it doesn't last until he gets a girlfriend!). It is nice to be so well loved but I feel for Brian who just couldn't get it right (according to Grady anyways)

Yum Yum Yum...all done!

Half Boy Half Couch

When you can go backwards much faster and more effeciently than you can go forwards you unfortunately end up in some awkward places as Grady demonstrates below! Although I was watching him today and I think it might be 80% accidental and 20% on purpose. He was happily scooting backwards but getting precariously close to the hearth on the fireplace (which is at the perfect height for a good head knock) when I noticed that he was looking up every few seconds to check where his head was in relation to the edge hen squishing his neck down to his shoulders while pushing himself backwards. I knew it was partially on purpose when he looed up and smiled at me as he gave himself the last little push to scoot into his hidey hole!

Here Grady joins us as we venture into the financial world for our annual review of our investments. Grady enjoyed showing Steve how to blows bubbles, commenting on stocks and helping shred old tax reciepts. Enjoyable all around until we went outside in the -30 weather to see that our car had been towed for parking too long on 6th Avenue! So back upstairs with a screaming Grady who was tired, hungry and not wanting to be in his car seat. Fast forward one cab ride, one car ride, $130 and 1.5 hours later and we were finally home safe and sound. Lesson learned!
