Quilting

I have recently (since October) gotten into quilting. Which makes Gloria (my mother-in-law) very happy and I am pleased to admit it is a pretty fun hobby, although as a result my scrapbooking has become nil. Here is what I have done since starting:
Another quilt for Grady. I did this one because orignally I had bought the construction vehicle flannel for the back of his fish quilt but then there was an awesome 50% everything sale at www.kidsfabrics.com and I got the fish flannel, I also bought a bunch of clearance vehicle flannels to do the front of this quilt. Instead of a binding I made ther edge raggy (and saved myself several hours of hand stitching a binding!)

A close up of all the different vehicle flannels. I have John Deere tractors, Pontiacs, Cameros and general construction trucks. The pattern is called endless staircase.

A Gloria's super fancy sewing machine.

A Christmas table runner gift for Steph and Lloyd.
A Christmas quilt as a housewarming present for Nick and Crystal. Done in left over Christmas reds and a really sparkly white with a candy stripe backing. Pretty good for no pattern.
Isabel's quilt. Disney princesses with sparkly flower batiks, a little soft and fuzzy fabric and a cute dressup girls backing. All cottons (except the fuzzy stuff) and fluffy batting.
A close up of the princesses.
Looks perfect on her big girl bed, once it was in it's rightful place she got to have her first night in her new room, all cosy. It'll be like always having a hug from Auntie Leslie.

Grady and Isabel get right into playing with the quilt

Getting an up close look at the princesses. She proceeded to make sure I knew she knew the names of all of them!

Isabel checking out the princesses.

Grady testing out Isabel's quilt

Grady's quilt, my first quilt. Pretty good for a beginner. The fish are done with Batiks, the batting is an old blanket to make it extra warm and the backing is a cute fish flannel.

Close up of the bottom corner, one of my favorite parts is the cute border I found "Spouty and Friends"

Close up of a fish. Love Batiks!

Finger Paint!

I've been wanting to try finger painting with Grady for a long time and I finally picked some up and let him have a go! Even though the box said it was washable I thought it would be easiest to clean up if there were no clothes involved (I forgot I might get some on my clothes!) Grady had a great time and every time he sees the paints on the shelf he asks to do more. I used the art to make up thank you cards for all the wonderful gifts Grady recieved at Christmas. Check your mailbox to see if you're lucky enough to get a Grady Brooks Original :D
Here Grady is on his second piece of paper, deep in his creative process

"Hmmm I wonder what it tastes like?" Don't worry I stopped him before he ingested any.

"This feels really nice on my hands, I wonder if..."

"Does it feel good on my tummy?"

"I like the effect!, I think I'll do more"
As you can see once his tummy was fully painted he returned to paper as his canvas!

Checking to see how much paint is left

Might as well smoosh this around on the plate too!
THE RESULT?: (including what Grady had to say while he painted)

"Big Fireworks" "I like a fireworks"

"This a Fire" "These Fish"

"Fireworks" "Lotsa Fireworks"

The plate that held the paint turned out pretty good too!
