We bought a trailer! And we managed to get it all ready to out for May Long weekend camping with a large group of friends, camping is always better in a crowd. Even though we swore we would never camp on May Long weekend again after the awful experience in the snow 2009 we decided BC weather is more predictable AND it is different in a trailer! First off you've got heat for when the temp drops below zero (which thankfully it didn't!) and you're off the ground.

On the way there. We heard our first "Are we there yet" type question from Grady on this trip about an hour out of the city!

My boys ready to go camping :D

The trailer was a wonderful splurge and soooo worth it! Grady loved camping so much he didn't want to go home. Here he is testing our his new bed on night #1. Pretty comfy compared to trying to squeeze between Mom and Dad on an air mattress!
Loving having his own space in the trailer! What a big boy, he didn't roll out of bed like we thought he might AND he slept through the night. Granted he didn't go to bed before 10pm any of the nights but at least he didn't get up at 6am.
The trailer! It's got a king and double beds so lots of space for our little family. Finally we don't

have to get dressed and undressed lying down or crouching in a tent in the cold air. Plus lots of space to move around and play in. We didn't have hook ups this trip so we weren't able to test out everything in the trailer but we did find out the the stove heats the place up pretty fast when you can't run the furnace.

Helen and Grady on night #1 hanging out in the truck while the Martins get set up after a stressful late night arrival, parking a 27ft trailer in the dark is a challenge! At least the kids were in good spirits and went straight to bed.
Camping in the 21st century! Blackberrys and iPhone present and accounted for, they are a must even for 6yr olds! lol
Day 2 Grady discovered the riverbank on the side of our campsites!

The water was fun...
BUT the mud was better!
Grady kept at it for about 2hrs, long after Billy and Helen had lost interest and gotten cleaned up he was still making mud pies. He was not so happy about the shower afterwards to clean the mud off but he had tonnes of fun!
Gra

dy and Francis find a plance to "hang" on night #2 while the Freckletons get set ip. They were also testing out their new trailer on camping trip #1 of the year. Congrats on the the fab fifth wheel, what a steal of a find! We are looking forward to lots of mult-family RV trips in the coming years. Grady loved having all the kids to play with.
Taking a break with Thomas the Train to wind down a little on Saturday afternoon.

What a

wonky smile on demand!
A

little frog that a camping neighbour found and kindly let the kids release after taking turns holding him.
More Muck!

Voula tells me that this mucky face comes from Grady clapping a clean hand with one full of mud
H

elen and Grady went through the most outfits changes I have ever seen on thsi camping trip! We did laundry 1/2 way through but I can't imagine the fun Voula had with her laundry when she got home!
It

s always fun the kids your meet at campgrounds. Some of my best camping memories are of going out in search of friends then spending the rest of the trip as best friends.
The

great outdoors has so much more to offer than video games! lol
Billy and Helen shared some camping cake with Grady. As you can see he dug in!

A game of pass the ball (set up to stop the fighting over Francis' ball) The kids and Lindsay had a good laugh seeing who might get the ball next.

All in all a very sucessful camping trip! We forget a few things (nothing major) and found that we still need some others (just to make life easier) and are more than excited for our next trip in June with the Pasleys. Grady did really well, going potty lots and listening like a fabulous little boy. It was a joy to experience this first trip at an age where Grady can really enjoy it and get into the thick(muck) of it!
