I made this cute Cat in the Hat chenille baby blanket for one of the many new babies on the way that we know. It was my first time trying the chenille technique and I really love the way it turned out, although it was A LOT of work. But worth it!
Close up of the chenille. Basically you sew a bunch of diagonal rows 1/2 inch apart through 3 layers of flannel then slice the tops two layers between your channels.
The person this is for (they still don't know :D) wanted a taggy blanket so I added some ribbon on the top and bottom edges. Can you see the channel I forgot to slice?
I used the same panel as the backing since the whole story is written out and you can't read any of the text. I didn't chenille the cat because I was worried that he wouldn't turn out. Next time I am going to try a smaller panel to see how the picture turns out once it is chenille.
